PESHTIGO RIVER FRONT PROPERTY! If you are a sportsman or like a major nature and recreation resource and PRIVACY in your back yard, you need look no further!
If you are a FISHERMAN note: This is below the first dam on the Peshitgo River. According to the fishing regs that means you can fish YEAR AROUND for most species. I catch: 3 kinds of trout, Northern, Small Mouth Bass, Rock Bass and Walleye - Right behind our house. We have a small rapids on each end of our frontage which are the best fishing spots on the river. I even setup a swivel trout stand on a cut off tree that hangs over the river. It's like shooting deer from a bucket seat.
If you like to CANOE; we canoe 13 miles down the Pesh to Lake Michigan. Yes Lake Trout in river. Sometimes we make it a two day expedition and cook, sleep under the stars, next to a campfire, along the way. Most of the way down the river is State owned land on one or both sides! And to get to this bald eagle infested nature preserve right from your back yard. That’s right Bald Eagles fly right over our heads as we canoe down stream (or up stream to the town of Peshtigo). One time a flock of 7 Turkeys flew over our heads from one side of the River to the other.
We have EVERY KIND OF WILDLIFE you can imagine here. From Great Blue Herons and large Red Headed Woodpeckers to fawn deer drinking from the river. A couple of days ago two Turkeys, one with his tail feathers spread in a beautiful Thanksgiving Day display, were looking at me through the ground floor office window.
SWIMMING: Who needs a pool to slave after? We jump into our own 180 foot wide river which has a mostly sand and some smooth stone bottom. Sometimes we swim across the river at night and sit on the sand bank enjoying the light of the full moon, while we count the leaves on the trees, with the reflected moon light off the river rippling across them. Our side of the river has NO CURRENT until you get about 55 feet out from the bank. Our side of the river is very shallow, only inches deep for 8 feet or so, until you get about 15 feet or so from the bank. So it is as safe a place for children you could have and still be on a river. What a place for Huckle Berry Finn and Tom Sawyer to grow up!
We have a wonderful steel fire ring in the back yard into our woods in the second connected wooded property that comes with the home. From there you can look down and see the river while cooking your hot dogs.
DUCK HUNTING; down the Pesh is some of the most fabulous duck hunting in the State. You have to see it to believe it. There is nothing better.
Rifle, pistol and archery ranges all over the place with in just a few miles. Even a game farm is with in miles, just a few miles on the other side of the river.
Would you like total PRIVACY? The State of Wisconsin has acquired the entire "WILDERNESS" across the river. No building will be put up across the river for Thousands of acres. And this is all hunting land! Or, use it for hiking, exploring, etc... By the way, the wooded lot next door, this property comes with that too, so there is a large wooded area between the house and the neighbors (who are great). We never have a reason to pull down our master bedroom shades over the huge picture window/french door leading to our private deck at night in the master bedroom which has the view to the river/woods.
The SEMI-EXPOSED GROUND FLOOR, not included in the living sq. ft. noted above, is 80 percent complete with remodeling to include a fabulous large office with custom built in cabinets, desk and library with TV slide-out and dvd-video storage. A game room and wet bar made to look like the Captains Quarters of a spanish galleon. Also a large workshop, storage area, a guest bedroom suite, pool room, and full bathroom (ALL WITH WINDOWS (Natural light) to the beautiful outside back yard area). If you include the wonderfully designed ground floor the total living area is about 3600 Sq. Ft.
Very large master bedroom on 1st floor with suspended deck/balcony with stairs going to down to the back yard, or one step down to the side yard. Master bathroom suite with huge bath, separate shower and two sinks.
Beautiful Kitchen and Dinette with large breakfast island nook. It has large picture windows with a french door leading to the large wood deck, which over looks the Peshtigo River through 75 foot high Pine Trees that almost look like Palm trees.
A great room with large natural fireplace and storage for firewood. It has a built in library with TV slide, big picture windows looking out to the back yard beauty. In the winter it is the most beautiful winter wonderland you will ever see.
The homes surrounding ours are very beautiful and larger newer homes which compliment our home and maintain its value.
Vacant properties (several) just up stream from us, near Crivitz, WI, Peshtigo River front property went for as much as $500,000.00+ (Yes PLUS, check it out for yourself) for raw land the size of ours. And they don't have a State owned wilderness across the river or legal fishing year around. With such a beautiful home, which is in excellent shape, this is a steal. There are many people wishing they could have purchased Peshtigo River Front property when it was available at auction a few months ago. Now is your chance. IT WILL GO FAST!
